LILAC is America's only surviving steam-powered lighthouse tender. It was built in 1933, decommissioned in 1972, and is now a museum ship. The ship’s regular duties included delivering supplies to lighthouses and maintaining buoys for the U.S. Lighthouse Service and the U.S. Coast Guard.
